You can see all scarf designs at Russell.pictures. The Qualia designs are leaky and hallucinogenic and inspired by the main character, Qualia Merlin, in my novella Yesterday Makers.
Here is my Qualia’s Parrots Scarf landing on a gilded cage. The main parrot, griffin-like and imperious, drapes across the golden bars, faintly echoing the old thaumatrope of a bird and cage (a spinning disk with a drawing of a bird on one side and a cage on the other; due to persistence of vision, the bird appears trapped in the cage). Stefania modelling my Qualia’s Parrots scarf. Inspired by Australian parrots but with a dark twist (two of the birds are eyeless and one is transforming into a griffin).
Qualia’s Reef (my semi-abstract underwater scene) has been re-stocked with more fish and some new jellyfish. All of these Qualia images can now be found using my new domain Russell.Pictures. Prints on paper and canvas available. For other uses, such as book covers and business cards, please go to Scientific.Pictures where you can licence and download digital images.
